Job overview

The Governors of Cobham Free School seek to appoint a well-qualified, dynamic individual as Head of Junior Department (ages 4-11).

We seek a highly committed, professional leader to join our talented team and help us realise our vision - to provide an excellent, balanced education to every child, irrespective of background. The school’s motto is ‘Optimum Omnibus’ – ‘the best for all’.

We are looking for a Head with vision and drive, who can build on our excellent reputation and success to date and contribute to the process of continual improvement on our journey going forward.

The Junior department opened in September 2012, has grown year on year and will, from September 2015, be a complete one form entry primary school, with pupils from Reception through to Year 6. The school is popular and oversubscribed.

Building on the success of the Junior Department, a Senior Department was opened in September 2014. The school will now extend year on year to become an all-through school, catering for pupils from Reception to Sixth Form.

The Governors are seeking an inspirational individual, to:

  • Create, maintain and develop a high quality educational experience for all pupils.
  • Provide strong leadership that secures the school vision of high standards of behaviour, achievement and good social development for all pupils.
  • Engage all stakeholders and the wider community in all aspects of the school.

We can offer:

  • A competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • A model of education based on innovation and best practice from the state and private sectors.
  • A real commitment to Continuous Professional Development.
  • Supportive Senior Leadership Team who are passionate about education and welcome ideas.
  • Small class sizes (an average of 24 students in each class), free school lunches and holidays generally aligned to the independent sector.
  • The opportunity to really make a difference.
