Allenbourn Middle School requires a full-time Head of Maths from September 2015

Head of Mathematics required for September 2015 in this thriving 9-13 middle school regarded by OFSTED as outstanding. This is a permanent post.

This is an exciting period for the school having recently received :

  • an ‘outstanding’ OFSTED award in June 2012
  • Teaching School status in April 2014
  • Academy status (March 2015) as part of a multi-academy trust in the locality

Applications are invited from all teachers who have an outstanding vision for developing maths in this middle school setting, underpinned by an excellent understanding of the new curriculum and assessment without levels. Teaching and learning of maths was identified in an Ofsted good practice report in 2013 and senior leaders of the school are keen to build on the principles highlighted in this case study. Allenbourn is a mixed 9 – 13 middle school whose catchment area covers the attractive market town of Wimborne and the surrounding villages. Allenbourn moved in to a brand new building with very good facilities in March 2003. The school is set in pleasant grounds, close to the town centre.

There are around 620 pupils and 36 teaching staff, some of whom are part time. At the end of Year 8, the children transfer to Queen Elizabeth’s or Corfe Hills upper schools, and between 10 to 15% of the pupils leave at the end of Year 7 to attend local grammar schools.

Allenbourn Middle School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people/vulnerable adults and expect all staff to share this commitment. This position is subject to an Enhanced with Child Barring List level DBS Check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
