Job overview

Together, we are stronger...

Sir John Gleed School was established in 2012 following the amalgamation of two schools in Spalding to create the 1,600-place, 11-19 co-educational secondary which now bears our name. In January 2013, after a difficult beginning in the life of our new school, we made the decision to become an academy as part of CfBT Schools Trust (CST).

We can provide fertile ground for the growth of exceptionally talented teachers and are currently seeking to appoint to a number of key positions within our school. Our new Head of Mathematics will be an experienced teacher in this subject with the skills to lead and manage by example. They will have the desire and ability to understand and develop best practice and to see that this resonates with both our students and staff. They will be purposeful and proactive in helping to instil a lasting culture of high calibre teaching, ensuring each child at Sir John Gleed benefits from our position as an integral part of this high profile trust.

The Mathematics department comprises a stable and hard working group of staff. They are determined that students will succeed at a higher level in mathematics and working hard to focus on improving teaching and raising attainment. Student attitudes towards mathematics are positive and the incoming Head of Mathematics will be able to make a positive impact in a relatively short space of time.

Visits to our academy are encouraged and can be arranged by contacting Alex Mills at Navigate.

The closing date for applications will be 12 noon on 9th March 2015 with interviews being held over the following seven days.

For an informal discussion please contact Alex Mills or Emily Day at Navigate on 0844 800 5300 or email joinsjg@navigategroup.co.uk. To download the application pack please visit www.joinsjg.co.uk

Sir John Gleed School is robust in promoting the safeguarding of children and is rigorous in its recruitment checks. An enhanced disclosure from the DBS will be required for this post.

Join our highly successful Trust

South Lincolnshire Academies Trust has over 550 teaching and support staff working in the four schools (Bourne Academy, Spalding Academy, Giles Academy and Cowley Academy) that make up our highly successful Trust.

There has never been a better time to become part of our team with the rapid growth of the schools, where student numbers are increasing due to local demand and there is an expansion in our curriculum and facilities.

We pride ourselves on creating an environment that benefits from high staff retention as we offer realistic routes for progression for both teaching and support staff. We nurture and reward our staff and will help you develop and succeed.

Our Trust ethos is Aspire, Challenge, Achieve and this is embedded in everything we do for our students and staff. This common goal reflects why our schools are so popular as our students and staff work towards the same objectives.

Not only are we successful, but the working environment is a rewarding and enjoyable place to be.
