Job overview

Can you teach Spanish up to A level and are you looking to develop your career and leadership skills? Then this is a fantastic opportunity for you! We are looking to employ an enthusiastic and inspiring Head of Modern Foreign Languages to lead our team of dedicated and talented MFL teachers.  The successful candidate must be able to teach Spanish up to A level. The school is keen to support staff to develop both personally and professionally, and the successful candidate will be given training opportunities to suit their needs and career aspirations.

The MFL department is housed in dedicated rooms within the English and Languages block and has its own staff room. Our students are well-behaved, happy, engaging, and inquisitive individuals, who are proud to be Prince William students. We are passionate about providing them with the best possible education and they have high aspirations for themselves and look to us to guide them on their journey to adult life.

Prince William School is located in picturesque Oundle, within easy commuting distance of Peterborough, Stamford, Kettering, Wellingborough, and Corby. It is a vibrant and friendly school that strives to deliver the challenging and inspirational curriculum our students need to prepare them for the ever-changing world of work. We have high expectations for all, and our aim is simple: to be the best school in Northamptonshire and beyond for every student, no matter what their ability or aspirations.

This is an exciting time for the school as examination results have seen rapid improvement and the school is expanding. In 2023, our KS4 attainment 8 was 48.9, 75% of our KS4 cohort achieved grade 4+ in both English and Maths, 52% achieved grade 5+ in both English and Maths. In KS5, we achieved 28% A* - A, and 79% A* - C, an average grade of B-, and an ALPS Quality Indicator score of 2.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher who is committed to delivering high-quality lessons for students of all abilities. In return, the school offers a supportive Senior Leadership Team, a committed and caring department, good CPD and career development opportunities, and students with good attitudes to learning.

Welcome to Prince William School. We are passionate about learning and providing a wide range of experiences for our young people to prepare them for the world beyond school. Our vision is to create an innovative learning environment which has all staff and students learning, developing and delivers the highest of expectations from ourselves and from each other.

At Prince William School we focus upon success. Success for learning. Success in competition. Success in our personal aims. This focus means that we achieve success in many areas including: school results, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, nationally recognised musicians, winning district, county and national sporting events and through being frequent competitors in activities such as the Economics literary papers judged at Eton, and the East Northants “Dragons Den” Competition. We also learn that although we aim to succeed, there are times when we might not. The key is to dust ourselves off and tackle the next challenge with the aim of succeeding next time.

We encourage our young people to ‘Learning for Life’ through the setting of aspirational targets, recognising success in its many guises, through celebrations and in developing and promoting student leadership to encourage future students to do even better.

Our excellent year teams link the need to support young people through any difficulties and challenges in order to overcome barriers to learning and ensure the core purpose of learning and achievement is not forgotten.
