Job overview

The candidate needs to be located within travel distance of Midlands and the South West of the country.

Every day TCV works across the UK to create healthier and happier communities for everyone - communities where our activities have a lasting impact on people’s health, prospects and outdoor places.

We recognise that each community and the people living there have different needs.  Whether improving wellbeing, conserving a well-loved outdoor space or bringing people together to promote social cohesion and combat loneliness, TCV works together with communities to deliver practical solutions to the real life challenges they face.

For over 50 years we have adapted our work with volunteers to reflect the changing needs of communities in the UK and, by giving people a sense of purpose and belonging, we have empowered them to take control of their lives and outdoor spaces for the benefit of all.

We have created our unique Green Gyms to benefit both the health and wellbeing of participants and the countless people who will enjoy these well-managed outdoor places in the heart of their community.

As part of our Natural Talent programme, we work together with people of all ages and backgrounds to ensure everyone has the opportunity to realise their potential.

Our tailored approach supports the development of a wide range of skills from core numeracy and literacy through to hands-on conservation experience. We deliver this through bespoke training activities, or by working and learning together in the outdoors, helping people gain the practical, transferable skills and experience they need.

Through our Community Builder programme we encourage people to take an active role in the creation and development of local outdoor spaces that reflect their community’s unique needs. From food growing to an outdoor classroom, and from a social centre to a place for a family picnic; this community involvement and ownership will help secure the future of precious green spaces across the UK for generations to come.

Since 1980 our Employment and Training services have delivered Welfare to Work programmes and training schemes. We have helped people to find work by finding the right employment and learning opportunities, set up their own businesses and stay in work. From 2009 we have supported over 50,000 people and given them the opportunity to improve their lives and find a new direction.

Currently we deliver over 30 contracts in the North West, North East, South West, Wales, Yorkshire and the East Midlands. We deliver local solutions that work and help employers fill vacancies and develop their workforce.

We contract with many providers of welfare to work and training contracts esp. DWP. And through a working partnership with individuals and organisations across the private, public and third sectors we excel at sub, regional, national levels.

TCV Employment and Training Services is the trading arm of The Conservation Volunteers. Proceeds from our work are given to The Conservation Volunteers as a Green Dividend, helping the charity to carry out its vital work.
