We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Regional Development to support our work in the Africa, Europe and Middle East (AEM) region which comprises circa 1,000 schools across 87 countries in the region. The Head of Regional Development has the overall responsibility for ensuring the sustainability of the long-term growth of the IB in the region. By building awareness, developing relationships with key stakeholders and communicating and cultivating an understanding of the IB mission across pertinent constituents, the job holder seeks to grow the reach of the IB to universities, governments, schools and regional associations. This role also oversees the development, planning and management of strategically important events, such as the Annual Conference, recognition forums, IB Community events and orientation sessions that communicate, celebrate and validate the IB mission and programmes amongst current and prospective community members. The Head of Regional Development works closely with the Regional Director, the Global Head of Recognition and the regional leadership team to ensure the sustainable growth of IB programs. The Head of Regional Development develops regional strategy to ensure there is outreach to educational leaders at schools, ministries and organizations across the region. In addition, regional recognition identified and prioritized to foster the necessary recognition of the IB programs.

This role also oversees the development and implementation of country specific development plans. In addition, this role is responsible for developing relationships with key stakeholders, including universities, governments, school districts/school boards, education leaders, and Asso ciations of IB World Schools, who play a critical role in the growth of and support for the lB. In collaboration with the global and regional professional development teams, this role also assists in the development and delivery of specialized services, such as presentations events that help to educate, influence and provide support for recognition and advocacy efforts of the lB.

Key responsibilities-:

  1. Recruit, train and performance manage regional development team, including staff in remote offices, so that performance meets expectations and department goals are achieved.
  2. Contribute to the regional leadership team so that the regional goals are informed by regional development goals and priorities.
  3. Responsible for developing a strategic development plan for the region and for specific identified key countries.
  4. Develop and cultivate relationships with potential IB sc hools, interested schools, clusters of schools, education authorities and ministries. The services needs of the varying stakeholders are met.
  5. Contribute to the global team for policy and research to insure effective global approach to recognition and that the global strategies and goals are informed by regional initiatives and priorities and that global processes are implemented.
  6. Prepare and manage departmental budgets for that meets goals and accurately forecasts for planned activities.
  7. Assume overall responsibility for planning, budgeting and managing regional events relevant to IBAEM business development and stakeholder engagement.

Main requirements-:

  1. Advanced degree and proven business development experience
  2. High level of skill in both written and oral communication in English
  3. Understanding of the current and historic educational-environme nt in the region, with emphasis on the unique cultural and political sensitivities
  4. Proven ability to set and meet targets
  5. Proven ability to manage diverse and remote teams
  6. Project management experience
  7. Proven budget management competency
