The Role

International School Ikast-Brande has an exciting opportunity for an outstanding international-minded leader with a solid understanding of school organisation and the ability to bolster core strengths and to embrace continuous improvement driving the school forward. We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and flexible Head of School to continue our journey and build upon the school’s tremendous success, and to implement strategies in collaboration with the Board of Directors. The Cambridge International Curriculum serves as our point of academic reference, and the school achieves above-average IGCSE International results year upon year. Key objectives include academic excellence, student well-being, financial sustainability and school growth, all while encouraging staff development.


The Head of School must possess the vision and drive to continuously enhance student achievement in a balanced whole-student approach, embracing social and creative skills. Furthermore, The Head of School must have the interpersonal skills required to work with staff and all members of a culturally diverse and engaged community. 

We are in search of a Head of School who is highly visible, open-minded and approachable, serving as a continuous source of inspiration and innovation, focused on enhancing students’ education, academic achievement, and overall well-being. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding manager of people, possessing the ability to motivate and empower staff. We are seeking candidates who possess a willingness to learn the Danish culture, we also invite Danish speaking school leaders with relevant international experience to apply. Additionally, a keen willingness for dialogue and collaboration is highly valued within our team as well as being a firm decision-maker, always keeping students at the heart of decision making.  

Candidates with a teaching background or experience in education are encouraged to apply, as they bring valuable insights and skills to our institution. Extensive knowledge of the International Cambridge curriculum is needed for the role. Moreover, we are looking for individuals with the energy and enthusiasm to effectively promote and sell the school’s unique offerings and educational approach. 


The School 

International School Ikast-Brande, established in 2009, has been the leading international school in the heart of Jutland area for over a decade. This position offers a unique opportunity to assume leadership of a first -class well-established international school in purpose-built facilities of outstanding architectural quality. The school is committed to provide high-quality international education to families moving to Denmark as well as local residents seeking higher academic standards and challenges to their educational ability. Currently, the student population is about 210 from 3 to 17 years old and from over twenty different countries, providing a rich and diverse cultural environment. Our students are well-behaved, highly motivated and extremely positive about our school. We continuously support student achievement in a balanced whole student approach embracing the development of social and creative skills, providing our students the best in achievable life skills. We instill in our students, from an early age, the principles of right and wrong, allowing them to make good decisions.  

 

Denmark and Ikast 

Denmark is an extremely open and friendly country with a diverse selection of activities. Ikast is in the center of the country with several transport links including rail and Billund airport only one hour away. Denmark is a safe environment and Ikast's small community feel is the ideal place for a family. The area provides numerous international forums and groups to help newcomers settle and integrate, including the school’s parent circle.

Initial on-line interviews will take place in the second week of April. The ISIB Board reserves the right to appoint an appropriate candidate before the deadline expires. All applicants will receive an acknowledgement response, and successful candidates will be informed about the first-stage interviews to be held on-line or on-site in Ikast. The final selection process will take place in Ikast in the week commencing mid-May 2024.

International School Ikast-Brande is a small school, but a big family! With a highly diverse intake of about 200 students, representing over 30 nationalities, we are able to offer individual attention to every student, and a safe, nurturing environment in which children and teenagers can learn, grow, and discover.

A non-profit international school for children aged 2 to 16, ISIB is located in Ikast, at the heart of Denmark's beautiful Jutland region. In August 2013 the school moved into a new, purpose-built building, which houses students from Early Years to Year 11, as well as the after-school programme. The building is located next to the Hjertet ('Heart'), a state-of-the-art facility which offers additional classrooms, a reflection room, a spacious sports hall and a multi-purpose hall.

International School Ikast-Brande delivers the Cambridge International Curriculum. The admissions process includes an application form and interview. We are an inclusive and non-denominational school. Places are offered on the basis of age, demonstrated academic history, and previous grades.
