Head of School

Widecombe-in-the-Moor is a welcoming and happy school with an ethos of aspiration and achievement. We are proud to be an integral part of the small rural community in which we are situated. In addition Widecombe plays a leading role in the South Dartmoor Academy and wider learning community.

In 2013 Ofsted rated the school as outstanding in every aspect. This reflects the fact that pupils are supported and encouraged to achieve their full potential through creative teaching of a wide and exciting curriculum. We are proud of our pastoral care - pupils love their time at Widecombe feeling valued and respected by both the staff and other pupils.

We are recruiting for a Head of School to join us from September 2015. The successful candidate will have responsibility for teaching and learning across the school, will manage the school on a day to day basis and have a significant teaching commitment. You will be a member of the South Dartmoor Academy Leadership team and be directly responsible to Rachel Shaw, Primary Executive Headteacher.

We are looking to appoint a dynamic and inspirational leader. Someone who will build on our recognised high academic standards and take the school forward with challenge and enthusiasm whilst retaining the special atmosphere which exists here.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to lead a strong staff team in providing outstanding education and pastoral care.

The successful candidate will have:

• A history of providing outstanding teaching and an ability to lead staff in this area
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and inspire pupils, staff, parents, governors and the wider community
• An excellent knowledge of the curriculum and exciting ideas on how to bring it alive in the unique setting of Widecombe
