Corfe Castle CE VC Primary School is a 4-11 primary school located in the heart of the Purbecks, Dorset. As part of the re-organisation of provision in Purbeck (from three-tier to two-tier) we moved from being a first school to being a 1/2 form entry primary school from September 2012 with our first Y6 pupils in 2013-2014.

Corfe Castle Primary School is one of three local primary schools that received Academy Orders in December 2014 with the intent to create a multi-academy trust, currently known as The Saturn Education Trust. Having received the Academy Orders, the schools are now working towards conversion on 1st July 2015. The other schools involved in the proposed Trust are Wareham St Mary CE VC Primary School, and St Mark’s CE VA Primary School. Overall pupil numbers across the three schools are currently circa 410.

Corfe Castle Primary School is looking to appoint a full time Head of School with some teaching responsibility (to be negotiated at interview).

As Head of School of Corfe, the person appointed will be expected to:

• evaluate school performance, identify priorities for improvement and ensure delivery of agreed improvements and targets
• ensure that teaching in all classrooms is always good with the majority of lessons outstanding
• manage behaviour and attendance
• recruit, manage and ensure development of teaching staff including Teaching Assistants
• ensure the proper management of local budgets
• respond to day to day management issues in schools
• ensure the health, safety and safeguarding of all staff and pupils
• develop and maintain the ethos of school including RE and faith distinctiveness as appropriate.

This is a challenging and diverse role that would allow an individual to make a real impact on the delivery of education across Purbeck.
