Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new Head of School at Holbrook Primary following the successful appointment of the previous postholder to Headteacher at another Hampshire school.

Bedenham and Holbrook Primary Schools have been federated since June 2014 and we are now at an exciting point in our journey, having recently appointed a new Executive Headteacher to further grow the collaboration between the two schools.

Governors are seeking an experienced, ambitious, inspirational, and highly professional leader with the energy, drive and commitment to raise standards for all children across the school. They should demonstrate a passion for the leadership of learning across the Primary age range and be able to confidently shape and improve the quality of education across The Federation.

Our vision is to grow inquisitive and resilient learners who achieve academic success and are ready to embrace all opportunities, both now and in the future, underpinned by our core values: Respect, Resilience and Aspiration. We work as ‘one school across two sites’ where everyone in our school strives to grow and succeed every day.

We aim to provide a rich and varied curriculum, embracing opportunities to develop cultural capital. The successful candidate will drive the development of the schools’ curriculum offer, ensuring that more pupils than ever before leave each stage of their educational journey well prepared for their next. Strategies will place the need of the most disadvantaged children and those with additional and complex needs firmly at the centre of developments.

Our new Head of School will be an outstanding teacher with demonstrable coaching and mentoring skills to work with all staff to further develop teaching, learning and the curriculum across our Federation.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Currently is an outstanding and inspirational leader with leadership experience
  • Can prove their record of accomplishment of success in their current role across the Primary phase
  • Is able to take a lead role in working with other leaders to support, challenge and monitor the development, delivery and evaluation of an inspiring, broad and balanced curriculum across all phases of the school
  • Can lead teaching and learning through coaching, mentoring and leadership that secures and sustains high expectations, outcomes and excellent practice throughout the whole school
  • Understands and can articulate the importance of systematic, regular, and accurate assessment and its importance in securing good outcomes for all children
  • Is able to undertake self-evaluation and school improvement planning
  • Innovates to improve the quality of the curriculum offer to address social disadvantage and fully meet the needs of pupils with special education needs
  • Understands the importance and need of a safeguarding culture, where everyone understands their roles and responsibilities
  • Continues to strengthen Federation collaboration and develop effective partnerships that enhance pupil achievement and staff development.

We can offer:

  • The opportunity to work in close collaboration with our newly appointed Executive Headteacher, developing your leadership skills and creating the strategic vision for the next chapter in The Federation’s journey
  • Children who want to be in school as they recognise it as a safe place to learn, and are enthusiastic to do so
  • A strong ethos that good teaching, clear values and strong relationships are the most important levers schools have to improve outcomes for all pupils
  • A supportive Governing Body and Senior Leadership Team
  • A school where the whole team have worked together to create our new vision and values; we are proud to have a team of dedicated and hard-working staff and Governors who have high aspirations for our pupils
  • Commitment to your professional development
  • A unique Federation of two inclusive schools, each with a Resourced Provision, in close proximity to each other, where staff collaborate and work collegiately.
