Job overview

This senior role within the Education Quality and Standards Group puts you at the heart of implementing the Kent School Improvement Strategy. Sharing our ambition for what is possible, you will help to lead, manage and develop Kent’s vision for 21st century education. Like us, you are committed to securing rapid improvements in education and the brightest futures for children and young people. So you will have responsibility for managing our School Improvement Team and ensuring the effective continuing development, delivery and quality assurance of our work to improve primary, secondary and special school standards and performance.

With a strong focus on raising and sustaining pupil attainment for all, you will strive to improve the quality of provision in schools countywide, to good or better. We will look to you to bring an innovative and supportive approach - shaping the work of Improvement Advisors, developing service planning and delivery, and strengthening links with a range of partners. Striking the right balance of supportive partnership with schools, together with the right levels of challenge and intervention, you will ensure we deliver for our young people, while meeting changing local and national expectations. To this end, you will carefully monitor and evaluate outcomes, develop a range of strategies, drive a coherent and coordinated approach to services, and secure the effective deployment of resources according to our priorities.

To be equal to the challenge, you will need to be a trained OFSTED inspector with proven experience of successful leadership and change management in schools. You will have experience of using data and proven strategies to improve attainment and achievement, and close gaps for under achieving groups. As creative and innovative as you are analytical and strategic, your leadership style is characterised by clear vision, high standards and an unwavering commitment to quality. It is your ability to forge partnerships, motivate and influence people which really sets you apart.
