Invitation to Apply

The Board of Directors of the International School of Dublin (ISD) invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Head of School, which becomes effective July 15, 2015.

The School

The International School of Dublin (ISD) is a co-educational, international primary school for students aged 3-12.  It currently enrolls 60 students.  An accredited IB World School, ISD is the only school in Ireland to offer the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP).  ISD is a vibrant, growing institution that offers a high-quality education to a multi-cultural student body.  ISD’s talented teachers and staff are at the heart of the school’s mission.  Each staff member is valued for their unique role in delivering an exemplary educational experience to all students.

ISD endeavours to develop the intellectual, aesthetic, moral, physical, social and emotional potential of its students through inquiry-based learning.  As the only school of its kind in Ireland, ISD is held in high regard by parents, business leaders and educators, and strives to be a centre of professional and curriculum development.

ISD operates as an independent, non-profit entity governed by a Board of Directors.  Students hail from at least 20 different countries.  The school is characterized by small, multi-grade classes, dedicated, IB-trained teachers, and a committed, supportive parent body.  The school is located in Dublin which, in addition to being a centre for diplomatic and government personnel, is home to an ever-growing number of multi-national corporations and expatriate families.  The city enjoys a high standard of living, as well as being welcoming, easily navigable, and rich in history and culture.

ISD seeks a dynamic head of school who will maintain ISD’s high educational standards while supporting the school’s continued growth and development.  The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership ability and excellent skills in communication, collaboration, organisation, and educational guidance.  The candidate will also be enthusiastic about outreach, and adept at representing the school in the broader market to advocate for ISD’s longer term goals.

Mission

ISD aims to provide outstanding international education by promoting high academic standards, an intrinsic love for learning, and an appreciation for differences.  The school encourages its students to consider themselves global citizens and to reflect on how their actions can influence others both where they live and around the world.

Head of School Position

The Board recognizes the Head of School as its chief administrative officer, responsible for the day to day operations of the school.  While the Board takes major responsibility for policy decisions, it seeks accurate information and astute recommendations from the Head of School concerning ISD’s needs and priorities.

As the educational and administrative leader of the school, the Head of School will be involved in an exciting project for expansion. The Head of School is expected to work closely with the Board to collaborate on and ultimately implement its vision and mission for the school. In order to attain the school’s goals, the Head of School must maintain open lines of communication with the Board, and work cooperatively in a climate of mutual trust and respect.
