Job overview

The Orchards Primary School will open in September 2016, providing desperately needed high quality places for local primary-aged children (4-11) with complex learning difficulties including Autism, speech and language communication needs, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties.

The Orchards Primary School will join the Dunham multi-academy Trust which currently includes Elmridge Primary School and Acre Hall Primary School under the executive leadership of Jo Appleyard a recognised National Leader of Education.

Land for the school has already been identified by the Local Authority. Brand new buildings with specialist facilities designed specifically for the needs of our children will be built. Opening with an initial cohort of 40 children, we will grow to our full capacity of 80 children by 2019. Trafford Local Authority has undertaken to commission all our places as they recognise the growing need across the Borough.

Reporting directly to the Executive Headteacher and accountable to the local governing body of the school, you are likely to be a key member of the SLT in a Good or Outstanding school. Your leadership skills will already be highly developed in the Primary phase and you will display an ongoing commitment to the welfare, safeguarding and improved life-chances to the most vulnerable children.

Your boundless energy and creativity will be matched by that of the Trust and you will be supported all the way by a prospective parent body who have been behind the plans for the school from their inception.

What will set you apart is your clarity of vision for the school and your willingness to hold yourself and others fully to account for the delivering this vision from the first day of your appointment. For those with a passion for delivering excellence in SEN education, this is an opportunity without parallel.

To arrange an informal discussion, please call Jo Appleyard, Executive Headteacher on 07792 483174.

To apply, please download and complete the application form and monitoring form and return them to head@elmridge.trafford.sch.uk
