Job overview

We are looking to appoint a dynamic and forward thinking Head of Science to continue the development of our successful Science Team. You will need to demonstrate and give examples of:

  • outstanding classroom practice
  • strong leadership skills
  • effective use of data analysis
  • high expectations of both students and staff

We can offer you state of the art facilities, a commitment to your professional development and a highly supportive working environment:

“Working outside Hackney, when I began looking for jobs, I hadn’t heard of OLCHS. I decided to apply for my position, after meeting the Head. I was impressed by her vision of child centred, holistic education. With the current changes in education, I also found it refreshing that a school still had these values at its heart. The first thing that impressed me when I began teaching at OLCHS was how engaged and motivated the students were. As with all teachers, we work very hard but I feel there is a healthy work/life ethos here.  Since joining the school, I have found the leadership team to be very supportive and caring and have felt really valued as a teacher. At OLCHS I have been given freedom and support to grow creatively and professionally.”

TLR post-holder appointed September 2013

The community ethos of our school is based on the Servite Values of our founders and, whilst many of our teaching staff are not Catholic or Christian, all staff appreciate the strength of the community in which they work. This strong community, inspired by faith, provides a working climate that enables teachers to thrive in their work; our girls are engaged learners, teachers can take learning ‘risks’ in the classroom and students have a desire to achieve and have personal ambition. We truly believe that our students will be ‘shaping tomorrow, inspired by faith’.

Recently rebuilt with Building Schools for the Future (BSF) funding, with state of the art facilities, Our Lady's Convent High School is a Roman Catholic comprehensive secondary all-girls school situated in Stamford Hill (15 minutes direct link from Liverpool St), in the London Borough of Hackney.
