Longridge Towers School is a small independent school set in its own beautiful, safe grounds; a perfect environment for pupils aged 3 - 19. We are a friendly and vibrant learning community, with high aspirations for the children in our care and the staff team that supports them.

Are you a passionate, highly motivated and experienced Science teacher? Longridge Towers School is recruiting for the role of Head of Science starting in September 2024, on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will help drive standards and have the capabilities to support the teachers within the department. They will be able to exhibit expertise and experience in the teaching of science, preferably specialising in Chemistry and should have a proven track record working with GCSE and A Level pupils. The candidate must have the ability to lead a team of teachers in the development of a stimulating, innovative and successful science curriculum.

The Science Department consists of a Head of Department, 4 teachers and an experienced Science Technician, all with a wide range of teaching backgrounds from which we all benefit. We have excellent practical teaching resources and four specialist laboratories. Experience in teaching a second subject is desirable; preferably in humanities, psychology or maths. All teachers at Longridge must be willing to take part in a range of extra-curricular sporting, artistic and cultural activities and contribute to our enrichment programme. The salary for this role starts at £42,437 and will be dependent on the post holder's qualifications and experience.

The School attracts pupils from a wide geographical area on both sides of the Scottish Border and has a healthy roll. Longridge is situated in North Northumberland, three miles from the picturesque town of Berwick-upon-Tweed.

• Excellence in Care – sustaining an excellent level of pastoral care for our pupils

• Care for our People – developing our team of professionals

• Grow and Develop our School – increasing pupil numbers and maintaining our sustainability

• Invest our Time and Money wisely – improving our systems and environment

These aims articulate the School’s vision and focus to secure an outstanding future.

ISI

“The pupils’ personal development is outstanding throughout the school, supported by excellent pastoral arrangements and the caring approach of form teachers and tutors. Relationships between staff and pupils are excellent, as are those amongst the pupils themselves, often across the age range. The provision of boarding and the level of care provided are also excellent.”
