Job overview

Head of Secondary - August 2024

We require a dedicated, qualified and experienced Head of Secondary. The ideal candidate will have an innovative, forward-thinking approach combined with a strong pastoral background.

Doha Academy provides a British-based education incorporating the mandatory requirements of the Qatar Ministry of Education and Higher Education for students aged 3 – 18. The school’s Vision and Mission is to provide an outstanding, accessible and inclusive education based upon the teachings of Islam, which develops students spiritually, socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically.

Due to the success of our Qatar National Schools Accreditation process in February 2022 and NEASC accreditation in October 2022, enrollment across the Doha Academy has grown. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in contexts where English is an additional language. As a member of the upper senior leadership team, the Head of Secondary will play an integral part in whole-school development, requiring a close working partnership with the overall Head of Secondary, Deputy Principal and Principal of the Doha Academy group of schools.

Applicants must have, as a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree, PGCE or B.Ed., and QTS with at least two to three years’ experience in a senior leadership and management role. It is also desirable that the candidate has a NPQH or higher-level degree in education or related field, and can demonstrate a clear understanding of the National Curriculum for England’s Key Stage 3 – 5.

We also warmly welcome candidates who bring school accreditation and/or inspection experience to the role as the school progresses into its next phase of development. Having a strong ICT background would also be advantageous.

At Doha Academy you are not just offered a job but an opportunity to build your career and progress in a dynamic environment with the opportunity to also work across the group. With your skills and talents, we can provide you with the opportunity to achieve your career ambitions.

Doha Academy is focused on attracting, motivating and retaining top talent who align with our school’s core values. Our philosophy ensures that the accomplishments of our team members are appropriately recognized and rewarded. To do so, we are committed to providing a comprehensive compensation package that includes a competitive salary, along with a variety of competitive benefit programs and resources and a flexible, supportive environment that helps you to achieve a fulfilling work-life balance

Experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
