As a major provider of further, higher and adult education to over 10,000 students, our staff have quality at the heart of everything they do.

The School of Engineering incorporates many facets of Engineering – WBL, Automotive, Aerospace, Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical and Maintenance Engineering; its courses range from Level 1 to Higher National Diploma. As well as delivering programmes to full time and part time day release students, we train a large number of apprentices in a range of vocational areas in a variety of modes.

We are now looking for a member of the School Management Team who will contribute to the creation and implementation of the School Business and Improvement Plans, as well as contributing to College Objectives and Improvement plans. This post is specifically Engineering, and assumes no responsibility for Automotive, Aeronautical or WBL.

As the Head of Section – Engineering (Mechanical/Electronics), you will lead, manage and monitor the programmes within the Section and the teams delivering these programmes ensuring that the success rates and value added performance improves towards outstanding. Ensuring that all the Sections programmes meet the needs, standards and requirements of all partners, including awarding bodies, employers and higher education institutions, you will also manage the performance of the teaching staff in order to deliver outstanding teaching and learning with high standards of student guidance and support.

The successful candidate will hold a teaching qualification coupled with a degree or appropriate professional qualification in a relevant area. With a good understanding of the process of curriculum development, you will have experience of managing a range of courses and of planning high quality programmes. Substantial relevant teaching experience is essential as is the ability to work within teams and identify training and development needs.

We would prefer if candidates had a management qualification, however this is not essential.
