The ability to teach any of Social Sciences (including RS & PSHCE), English, Art, Food, Geography or Computing would be an advantage

  • Do you have the skills and experience to support students to thrive in all of their subjects and provide support and guidance at every stage of their school life?
  • Do you want to work in a “kind and caring school where children are proud and fortunate to attend”? (OFSTED 2023)
  • Would you like to work in a school where “Leaders, including governors, value the work of staff and where new teachers speak highly of the support they are given”? (Ofsted June 2023)

Waingels, a popular 11-18 school where students achieved above national average in all measures and was identified as “continuing to be good” in a recent OFSTED inspection, is seeking to appoint a Head of Year to join an existing team of dedicated, caring Heads of Year and Assistant Heads of Year, to lead a year group including the team of form tutors.

The successful candidate for this key role will lead a team of tutors and work closely with the Deputy Headteacher, Assistant Headteacher and other Heads of Year to ensure that all students in the year group are able to achieve their potential both academically and socially as well as developing them as a person. You will regularly work with students, their parents/carers and, where appropriate outside agencies, to support students at all times, helping them to maintain high standards of behavior, attendance and punctuality. You will work with relevant Heads of Subject and teachers to track the progress of students and identify those who are achieving well, those who are improving and those who need further support to achieve. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of our personal development program and for promoting opportunities for your year group to engage with such as extra-curricular clubs.
