Job overview

The Governors wish to appoint a Head Teacher ideally starting September 2015 or January 2016 for the right candidate.

Due to the promotion of our current Head Teacher, the Governors are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and passionate Head Teacher. They will have excellent communication and leadership skills to lead our fantastic team, inspire us to continue to improve, raise pupil attainment and progress.

About Us:

We are a friendly and happy single form entry Voluntary Aided Local Authority primary school. Our school motto is “Learning to Love, Loving to Learn” and this is reinforced by the Christian ethos that underpins every aspect of school life. We have been described as “a village school in the heart of the city.”

The children are proud of their school and their community and at St. Martin’s we provide a safe and secure learning environment for them to thrive and grow into confident contributing members of the community.

We have a dedicated and enthusiastic team of Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Support Staff and Governors with an active group of parents. We all work together to create a school environment where everyone’s contribution is valued and children know that their achievements and successes are recognised.

The Appointment:

The Governors are seeking to appoint a forward thinking, committed and informed Head Teacher with excellent communication skills who would continue to maintain the clear Christian ethos and vision.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to further develop their career and build upon skills already gained from being a successful Head Teacher or a Deputy Head Teacher. The successful candidate will work in partnership with all stakeholders to ensure the continuing success and progression of our pupils.

We are looking for a leader who will be able to challenge, inspire and motivate their team and develop a strategic vision for the school.

Ofsted judged the school in June 2012 as GOOD and the Section 48 Church schools inspection judged the school as OUTSTANDING with the recognition that we are a Distinctive Church School.

About St Martin's CofE Primary School

St. Martin’s School is a Church of England Aided School with a Nursery Class for children aged three to eleven and currently has approximately 234 pupils on roll. The school serves the whole of the Parish of the Resurrection, which includes the churches of St. Alban, St. Luke and St. Martin.

We enjoy very close links with St. Martin’s Church and a special feature of school life is the School Mass, which is celebrated in church once a term. The Parish Priest takes assembly for the main school one morning each week. In this school the children receive the very best of Primary Education within the Christian ethos, leading them to a love of God and each other, and an understanding of our world.
