Job overview

The British School Al Rehab New Cairo, Egypt

Seeks a Head teacher for August 2015 or possibly January 2016

The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity arises for a dynamic and visionary leader to further develop this well-established school in Cairo as the present post holder is returning to England after 9 years of service. The School is part of a group of 4 high quality schools provided for residents of the major housing developments built by the Talaat Mostafa Property group, a premier Egyptian company. It was recently inspected and accredited as a BSO school with an overall rating of “good” with some areas rated “outstanding” including relationships with stakeholders. The campus is 15 minutes from the international airport in the gated, secure and well-organised city of Al Rehab.

Currently in its fifteenth year, The British School Al Rehab (BSR) has an excellent reputation in the community, most years are full and over-subscribed, with a roll of approximately 970 children; examination results are excellent and staff turnover is very low at about 10 per cent year on year.

The “British” curriculum is used, based on the Cambridge Primary Curriculum and The International Primary Curriculum. We also teach an approved Arabic curriculum using Egyptian Ministry of Education work programmes and books.

The challenge

The school seeks a leader who is visible and approachable while managing the varying demands of a highly active school. Ensuring continuing high standards will be an important focus of the new Head teacher who will be expected to adopt strategies to promote student recruitment and control costs. BSR has already developed a high quality academic program and the next leader will be expected to strengthen the academic experience for every student. This is a rare opportunity to play a major role in building a World Class school.

Interested applicants must:

  • Hold UK recognized qualifications and have evidence of further study and professional development. Holding the NPQH or similar would be a significant advantage.
  • Have a proven track record of success in school leadership and management with a minimum of 10 years’ experience.
  • Be able to lead and manage all operational aspects of the school and be willing to take risks and develop new ideas and initiatives.

How to Apply

Applicants should email the Director of Schools Mr. Ian Harrison at school@tbs-cairo.com and include the following:

  • A detailed CV including the names and addresses of 3 referees, one of which must be your current employer.
  • A cover letter (no more than 2 pages) setting out your initial vision after reading the school website (www.tbs-cairo.com) .
  • A recent photograph and copy of the relevant pages of your passport.

An attractive remuneration package is available, including a highly competitive tax free salary and excellent benefits including a house, car, Business Class airfares, medical insurance, free education for dependent children etc.

The closing date for the receipt of applications is Friday 27th March .

Site interviews will be held in Cairo from April 20th according to availability.
