Orkney Islands Council is looking to appoint excellent practitioners, who can: demonstrate effective strategic leadership and management skills; sustain & build on the best practice; and grow the ethos of high expectations and innovation.

The new Head Teacher will lead and direct an enthusiastic and dedicated staff team to ensure that 'only the best is good enough' for their pupils.

Applicants must be registered or in the process of registering with the General Teaching Council for Scotland and be able to demonstrate that they have, through both experience and professional development, met the criteria in the Standard for Headship.

As head teacher you will be part of the education service management team and will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of education in Orkney as a whole.

Salaries are based on the SNCT Salary Tables and include a Distance Islands Allowance. We offer a generous relocation package.

About St Andrew's Primary School

St Andrew's Primary School is a forward thinking and outward looking primary school situated in the East Mainland of
Orkney, overlooking Suckquoy Bay in Toab. It serves the parishes of Deerness, Holm and St Andrews, together with the village of St Mary's. The school's commitment to 'excellent education for all' is central to its vision.Built in 1995 and extended in 2002-2003, the accommodation consists of eight classrooms around two communal areas together with a large general purpose room. The administration block comprises a medical room, general purpose room and large hall. Upstairs there is an open class area and a computer room.
