Job overview

Due to the upcoming departure of our current Headteacher, the school governors are looking to recruit a Headteacher for September 2015.

Discretionary payment possible for an exceptional candidate

We are seeking an inspiring and dynamic Headteacher to lead our young school through the next phase of our school journey and lead us from ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’.

Our Ethos:

Beit Shvidler Primary School is committed to the all-round individual development of each child within an ethos based on a strong commitment to orthodox Jewish practice, Torah values, the love of Israel and educational excellence.

About Us:

Beit Shvidler is an orthodox Jewish primary school in the heart of Edgware, Middlesex with 8 classes including a full day Nursery. The school is part of the family of Jewish Seconday Schools Movement (JSSM). It is single form entry and there are currently 240 children, aged 4-11, with usual class sizes of around 30. In our last Ofsted and section 48 Pikuach report, we were judged as ‘good’ overall.

The school was opened in 2006 and benefits from a state-of-the-art building. There is adventure playground equipment for EYFS and older pupils and large playground including a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA). The children in the Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception) have access to a large covered outdoor space to encourage a flow of indoor and outdoor play and to develop themselves physically.

We have a very well stocked library with a range of fiction and non fiction books. Children are able to visit the library regularly and we encourage children to develop an enjoyment and interest in reading through various events.

Beit Shvidler Primary School is a school whose very foundation and nature is based on tradition, respect, excellence and inclusion. Our school inspires children with a love of Jewish life, beliefs and values, together with a thirst for learning. The development of children's self worth and self belief is paramount and we do this through an inclusive, nurturing and fully supportive environment.

Beit Shvidler ensures that the children's lives are enriched through Torah learning, practice of Jewish laws and customs, a love of Israel and celebration of their heritage. We have excellent standards of learning and behaviour, maintained through the delivery of creative, innovative and inspiring teaching.

Beit Shvidler Primary is underpinned by high standards of respect between and towards families, staff and pupils. We are an orthodox community school that appreciates and treats all of its families as valuable stakeholders.

Beit Shvidler Primary operates as a cohesive team.  Each member of staff is actively encouraged to develop to their full professional and personal potential and the school leadership set the standards for self improvement, accountability, humility, communal responsibility and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Children leaving this school are proud of their own and  others' achievements, and imbued with ambition and  enthusiasm to continue all of their learning.

Ofsted:
This is a good school. It is not yet outstanding because the quality of teaching is not yet outstanding to raise achievement to the highest level. Key strengths are pupils’ behaviour and the school’s inclusive ethos. Pupils, parents and carers typically praise ‘this very warm and caring community school’.
Ofsted, June 2012

Pupils’ behaviour is outstanding. The school is happy and harmonious because pupils respect each other and have extremely positive attitudes to learning. Older pupils are excellent role models for the younger ones.  Ofsted, June 2012

We can offer you:

  • An opportunity to help share the future of teaching and learning.
  • An established, skilled and committed staff team.
  • Well behaved, caring children who are truly proud of their school.
  • A strongly supportive relationship with both the governing body and parent community.
