(Ofsted 19-20 February 2013)

Joseph Locke Primary School is a 3-11 year mixed primary school that was judged by Ofsted in February 2013 as requiring improvement, and since that time has been making progress towards becoming a good school. Do you have the passion, dedication and ability to build on these excellent foundations in order to inspire our children to grow and learn, and take us forward?

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional candidate to succeed our previous Headteacher, who retired in August 2014, following over a decade of committed service. We are looking for an outstanding individual who can lead and develop our school still further, as we begin this new and exciting chapter in our long and successful history.

Ours is a new-build school, situated close to the centre of Barnsley and easily accessible by road or rail. As well as our urban location, the school is in close proximity to both the Pennines and the Peak District National Park, while the landscaped grounds have been planted with hundreds of shrubs and trees which give a rural aspect to the town centre location. Excellent opportunities for sport and outdoor activities are provided by the two all-weather pitches, along with all-weather basketball, netball, and five-a-side courts and extensive playgrounds.

This is an excellent opportunity for an appropriately qualified, experienced, and dynamic professional to join a school that is committed to ensuring high quality education for all pupils and continually improving standards of learning and achievement.

Candidates must have a proven track record of excellence as primary practitioners in a school leadership role, and demonstrate the qualities, drive, and vision that will enable the school to build on its current success.

At Joseph Locke Primary School, the reward will be the opportunity to work with enthusiastic children with a love of learning, supportive parents, a dedicated staff team, and a highly supportive Governing Body that is committed to continuing professional development.

Informal visits to the school are warmly welcomed by prior appointment. Application forms and further details are available by contacting Julie Morris, PA to the Headteacher and Clerk to the Governing Body, on 01226 729910 or by emailing j.morris1@barnsley.org

Visits to school are welcome, please contact Julie Morris to make arrangements.

Further details about the post can be found on our website in the tab ‘About Us’ and ‘Key Information’

Completed applications should be returned to Julie Morris by no later than Friday 27th February 2015 at 4.15pm.
Shortlisting will take place on Monday 2nd March 2015.
Assessment exercises and formal interviews will be held in school on Monday 16th and Tuesday 17th March 2015.

Joseph Locke Primary School is an equal opportunities employer. Please note for this post you will be required to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. Joseph Locke Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
