The Governors of Bishop Challoner School are seeking an enthusiastic Headteacher with vision and proven leadership to carry forward the successes achieved under our departing Head, Mr Tony Corish. We are a very successful oversubscribed school for 11-16 year olds and our recent GCSE results has placed us in the top 20% nationally. Our Ofsted Report of October last year awarded us “Good” with “Outstanding” features.

We have strong connections with both the Diocesan and local schools and very good community relations.

We seek applications from candidates who:

  • Are practising Catholics with a strong commitment to Catholic education
  • Are currently in a Senior Management position
  • Have excellent communication skills, able to lead at all levels
  • Will inspire, motivate and support the staff, students, parents, governors and wider community
  • Have a clear vision of further developing the quality of teaching and learning.

About Bishop Challoner Catholic Secondary School

Bishop Challoner Catholic Secondary School, founded in 1975, is a mixed, non-selective, voluntary aided school for children aged 11-16. Locate in Basingstoke, Hampshire, the school lies in the Roman Catholic diocese of Portsmouth. 

The school has expanded in recent years and the pupil roll stands at around 820. A number of pupils from different religious traditions are admitted each year, promoting the development of a rich faith culture.

Bishop Challoner Catholic Secondary School is a community with a spiritual mission.  Opportunities for prayer, reflection and worship are built into the patter of the school's life. All students are supported on their individual spiritual journey. 

Music, drama and PE play an important role in the school dynamic and there are regular school productions, chamber concerts, workshops and sports fixtures throughout the year.
