Working together for a better future

Judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2010, Yardleys is a thriving, vibrant and heavily oversubscribed 11-16 multi-ethnic convertor academy in Birmingham, with 916 students on roll. The diversity of the school population reflects the rich, cultural mix of the local area. In August 2013 the school became a convertor academy. The school is highly focused on raising standards of pupil achievement and is successful at doing so. Yardleys School is in the top 100 most improved schools and consistently in the top 10% of schools nationally for value added, and currently in the top 4%. The school was designated as a National Support School in 2011 and has supported a wide range of schools in areas including teaching and learning, behaviour and business management.

This is an exciting time for Yardleys. The opportunity to appoint a new leader will allow the school to consolidate excellent practice and provide a new impetus to our development, in particular the planned extension of the age range from September 2016 to include primary provision and the possibility of Sixth Form provision in the future.

At the heart of the school’s success has been a commitment to providing an experience which develops the whole child. We are now looking for an inspirational and exceptional Headteacher who can lead the school to the next phase in its development consistent with its unique ethos and high academic standards.

To become our new Headteacher, you will have:

  • A proven successful track record of sustained improvement and extensive senior leadership experience in a secondary school;
  • The ability to continue to deliver our impressive levels of excellence and ensure continuing success for all our students;
  • Expertise, drive and vision to help embed the exciting plans that are in place for the school’s future development;
  • Exceptional leadership skills (at either Headteacher or Deputy level), and a commitment to student achievement and be able to sustain a culture that encourages high expectations amongst all;
  • A commitment to high quality teaching and learning.
  • The creativity and vision to inspire and lead change and the focus to ensure successful outcomes are reached;
  • A clear and committed strategic vision, combined with highly effective communication skills that will inspire, motivate and lead all key stakeholders forward for further success.

Above all, you will share our passion and belief that children, their learning and developing their potential is at the heart of all decisions. We are rightly proud of our school, but we are also an innovative and forward thinking community who are ambitious for the future. This is a rare and unique opportunity to lead a vibrant, highly ambitious and caring learning community, which is committed to delivering the very best education for all its students.

If you possess the vision to inspire students, staff and the wider school community, and the leadership skills to support this vision please contact Chris Gartner at Hays Leadership on 07595646645 or email him at chris.gartner@hays.com.
