Job overview

Innovation, Creativity, Ambition and Excellence are at our core.

If you have the vision and ambition, we can offer an unparalleled opportunity to lead our school in its development as a centre of excellence locally, nationally and internationally.

We are an 11-18 mixed Community School with over 1600 students, located on a split site in the City of Brighton and Hove. We were delighted to receive our best ever results in 2014 placing us in the top 1% of most improved schools nationally for a third year.

“The school has gone from strength to strength since the last inspection. The rapid improvement in students’ achievement is a direct result of the transformation in teaching, which is now good and in some cases outstanding.” Ofsted 2013

Hove Park School is at an exciting point in its progress following several years of innovation and improvement. The school leads the way, locally and nationally, in terms of raising standards.

Our recent progress in improving pupil performance has been built on strong staff investment and innovation, exampled by the embedding of individual iPads across the school. This has led to a further explosion of learning opportunities and is currently capturing a huge amount of educational interest from across the world.

The governors wish to appoint a dynamic and aspirational leader, who will build on the school’s current success and take it to the next level.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a Headteacher who will:

  • Be passionate about realising children's potential, maintaining our vision to create lifelong learners.
  • Be an exceptional leader, able to inspire and empower staff to deliver the highest quality teaching and learning, encouraging them to share knowledge and embed excellence at every level.
  • Be an innovator who embraces the use of technology to create new learning opportunities.
  • Be a strategic thinker who is also an outstanding practitioner with a clear focus on continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrate a flair for working collaboratively to develop and maintain relations with students, staff, parents/carers, governors, our neighbouring schools, Local Authority, and with the wider community.

If you visit us we hope you will be excited by the opportunity we have to offer: our positive, innovative atmosphere, our excellent and committed staff and our engaged students. We have high levels of engagement and support from parents and community groups

School tour: 10.00-12.30 on Thursday 19th and Wednesday 25th March

Working at Hove Park School

We are keen to recruit ambitious, self-motivated staff to help us become a nationally recognized centre of excellence, which puts achievement first for every student.

Hove Park School is located on two sites. The Valley Campus is for years 7 to 8 and Sixth Form, and Nevill Campus is for years 9 to 11. Some of our staff base themselves on one campus, and some choose to commute. The opportunity is there for staff to choose which route to take, and staff are able to change where they are based every academic year, should they wish to.

The pastoral life of the school is very important, so most teachers have their own tutor group. We operate in Year Teams, but we have Houses that we use for Sports Day and other competitions.

We have a personalized CPD programme that includes timetabled CPD sessions with colleagues from across the school. You will be keen to make the most of these opportunities, keen to learn and keen to share your learning with others.
