Job overview

‘Known, Nurtured, Inspired’ is more than a strapline – The Bishops’ School tries to live by it in all that we do.

The Bishops’ School is an 11-18 Church of England High school (NOR 1060 including 180 in a growing Sixth Form) situated in attractive grounds in Chester. The school is at an exciting stage as it looks to appoint a new Headteacher to move the school onward in its journey as a high achieving Church School, following the existing post holder’s appointment as principal of an international school in North Africa.

The Bishops’ School was judged ‘Good’ in its recent Ofsted inspection (March 2015) with many outstanding features. The school is in a strong position with good and improving examination results as well as having an excellent reputation in the area.

Situated close to the M56/A55/M53 the school has excellent road links to be able to attract candidate interested from a wide geographic area.

Governors are looking for:

  • A collaborative leader who leads by example and is a practising Christian
  • Passion and commitment to the education of the ‘whole person’.
  • Will be committed to building upon the schools’ existing strengths
  • Will be driven to succeed and raise attainment

Parents are looking for:

  • A visible Head who leads by example and has a clear vision on how to move the school towards outstanding
  • A leader who inspires and cares for colleagues and students alike
  • A Head whose motivations at heart are derived from helping students achieve their full potential

Students are looking for:

  • A Head who knows what it’s like to be a kid
  • Somebody who lays down the rules but always has a smile
  • Someone who recognises we’re not the most prestigious school but we wouldn’t have it any other way

In return we offer:

  • A rewarding and friendly place to work with good relationships at all levels
  • A caring and inclusive Christian community
  • Committed staff with the capacity and desire to achieve excellence
  • A dedicated school community of Governors, Staff, Students and Parents

If you believe you can provide the outstanding leadership that inspires and motivates others towards excellence and ensures the very best education for all our young people, then we would like to hear from you.

Visits to the school are warmly encouraged.

Closing date: Monday 15th June at Midnight
Interviews: Monday 22nd (Evening) & Tuesday 23rd June (All Day)
