Guidance on completing your application

The Headteacher salary is paid on a 7 point salary range. If, as a result of their current salary, the successful candidate is eligible to be appointed at a point other than the minimum of the advertised salary range; then the governing body will pay two points higher than their existing salary, up to a maximum of the mid-point of the range.

Employer Information

The successful candidate will be employed by the “St Philip Howard Catholic Voluntary Academy” which is to be sponsored by the Nottingham Roman Catholic Diocesan Education Service. The responsibility for managing and appointing the Headteacher is delegated to the Governing Body of “St Philip Howard Catholic Voluntary Academy”.

'St Philip Howard Catholic Voluntary Academy'

St Philip Howard School has approval from the Secretary of State to become a voluntary academy sponsored by Nottingham Roman Catholic Diocesan Education Service. This change is seen by the Board of Governors as critical in developing their vision for the school. This process will be completed by the 1st September 2015.

Due to the retirement of our current Headteacher, St Philip Howard is seeking to employ a Headteacher with the educational expertise and management skills who can lead the school to excellence. The staff team is committed to the school and its pupils and supports the changes and demands being made of them. The school holds a valued place in the community and parents are supportive of the school and want academic excellence for their children.

The successful candidate will have the drive and vision and stamina combined with the management skills to lead their staff team to: rapidly restore the school to “outstanding”; focus upon the standards which will develop the unique character of the school; take advantage of external changes in the educational landscape locally and wider; and, have the vision and integrity to lead the school in short and longer term development. The Headteacher and their staff team will be able to rely upon the support of the Board of Governors and their wide range of educational, management and professional skills in achieving these objectives.

This is a school community united in wanting change and ready to support the successful candidate in taking the school forward.
