Headteacher

We require a Headteacher to start from September 2015. The Governors of Sandford School are looking for an aspiring and enthusiastic professional to continue to build on the successes of this good and happy school, situated in a popular and attractive village in Mid Devon. Our school motto is “Enjoying Learning Together”, and we strive to put each child’s learning at the centre of all we do. There are also ambitious and exciting plans evolving for the future of our school and we need a forward-looking Head Teacher to help them and lead us from being a ‘Good’ school to an ‘Outstanding’ one.

We are looking to appoint somebody who:

• is an excellent teacher and leader, who has a record of raising and maintaining high levels of progress and attainment or shows clear potential to really excel at this;
• is an effective communicator and leader, with an imaginative, yet grounded approach to strategic thinking, who can foster positive relationships with children, parents/carers, staff, governors and the local community, ideally with empathy and humour;
• is an inclusive and reflective practitioner;
• has sound financial and people management skills, who is able to engage with local and national educational issues and embrace the opportunities and challenges that will arise in the future for our school.
