Wyvern Academy is a very successful special school in Weymouth, Dorset. Our specialist school for cognition and learning caters for children and young people aged from 2 – 19 years who have severe, profound and complex needs, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Due to the retirement of our highly respected Headteacher, the Trustees are seeking to appoint a dedicated and inspirational leader who will work in partnership with staff, Trustees and parents to build on our existing strengths and continue to lead the school forward.

Our school, which moved into its new premises in 2006, is part of a 0 – 19 years mainstream educational campus, the Aspect Trust. We provide an Early Years provision, primary and secondary classes and a sixth form. The number on roll is currently 85 with a maximum intake of 86 planned places.

We take a holistic approach to the education of children and young people and in recognition of this we offer additional services to our families through the organisation of the school and in partnership with health and care providers.

• Have the ability to motivate, inspire and engage with all members of the school and wider community
