Job overview

Learning and Achieving Together

Governors are seeking to appoint a strong and creative headteacher who would be passionate about providing the leadership and direction to support the school as it continues on its journey towards outstanding. This is an opportunity to build on the successes of our current headteacher, who is retiring after 14 years in post and establish one’s own style.

Wolf Fields Primary School is a very diverse school with children and families from many countries, cultures and faiths, making it an interesting and exciting place to work in. The headteacher has a very important part to play in supporting families and developing links with the local community.

We are a two form entry primary school with 374 full time pupils and a fifty place nursery for part time pupils. There is high mobility so maintaining good transition arrangements is imperative. There will also be opportunities to be creative in looking at how we use our buildings, the services that we offer and how we structure our staff teams.

We are therefore looking for someone who is able to enthuse and motivate children, staff and parents by having high expectations, clear systems and priorities and someone who understands the importance of team work and an open and trans-parent culture where all feel valued and have a contribution to make.

Our new headteacher will need to be able to promote and monitor good professional development so that staff have the skills to be ef-fective in the classroom.

Moving teaching and learning on through tracking data and holding staff to account is a core priority but we want this balanced with an understanding of the importance of a broad and balanced curriculum so that our music and sports teaching continues to be important.

Governors encourage appli-cations from experienced deputies with a good knowledge of the primary curriculum, a proven record of leading improvement and who are now ready for head-ship as well as from experienced headteachers looking for a new challenge.

The governing body will work with the new headteacher towards making Wolf Fields Primary School an outstanding centre of learning and achievement for children, and a stimulating and harmonious working environment for staff. We will offer support, appropriate challenge and profes-sional development whilst being mindful of the importance of the new post-holder maintaining a proper work life balance.

We have a clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The Successful candidate will be required to apply for an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure & Barring Service (formerly known as the Criminal Records Bureau). Further infor-mation can be found at www.gov.uk.
