The Governors of East Coker Community Primary School are looking for an inspiring and enthusiastic professional to continue to build on the success of this vibrant school.

Our school is situated in the picturesque and historic village of East Coker. The village and surrounding area benefit from good local amenities provided by Yeovil, together with convenient road and rail links. The school has approximately 270 pupils across nine classes, drawing upon a catchment area of East Coker and surrounding villages, as well as parts of Yeovil. Although relatively large in size, the school has managed to retain a ‘village’ feel and is central to East Coker and its community, with links to the local church and pre-school. The school is housed in a Victorian period building, supplemented by additional classrooms and large recreation areas for sports and outdoor activities.

We are seeking a new Head Teacher to build on the school’s past achievements in a manner that complements its underlying ethos. Ours is a school where the importance of academic achievement and progress is in balance with the wider aspects of education, giving children the experiences and knowledge to grow into rounded, compassionate and confident young people. The school has a committed, focused and collaborative teaching and support staff together with a supportive and active Governor team offering a broad range of skills. The performance of the school and the behaviour of the pupils are well respected in the local area and we offer strongly supported extra-curricular activities in music, the arts and sports.

The governors are seeking to appoint an individual who:

• has a passion for teaching and learning with high expectations of staff and pupils

• has excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
• is able to demonstrate strong strategic leadership
• will be approachable and highly visible
