Job overview

Appointment of Headteacher for January 2016

The Governors are seeking to appoint a dynamic individual to this oversubscribed 11-16 comprehensive school.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator and an outstanding classroom practitioner with a proven management record as either a deputy or headteacher. A thorough understanding of all aspects of current educational practice is essential.

Marshalls Park is an inclusive school with a long-established tradition of service to the local community. Results, at GCSE level, in almost every subject are above the national average.

This is a remarkable opportunity for a highly-motivated candidate to lead the school to further success at an exciting time of growth. It is expected that the school roll will increase by 1FE over the next few years in a phased expansion which will include some new build and considerable refurbishment.

The post will suit an innovative individual who will take the school forward and who would be enthused by this opportunity, in an environment in which mutual respect is held as a core value and which permeates all aspects of school life.

Pre-application visits are welcomed. These will be on Tuesday 28th April and Thursday the 30th April both, at 9.00am.

Please apply online via www.haveringschools.jobs.

The closing date for application is noon on Friday 8th May.
Interviews will be held on Monday 18th and Tuesday 19th May.

Values and vision

The secondary school's long-standing mission is to provide all students with "roots and wings". These are the roots of an academic education grounded in literacy and numeracy, and the wings of self-confidence and self-esteem that allow them to flourish in both the local community and modern world.

Marshalls Park School values its status as a performing arts college and a specialised dance studio was opened in 2010. The work of the drama department is aimed at providing students with opportunities to participate in high-quality, rich and varied experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Students study a variety of scripts, texts and poems throughout their drama education at Marshalls Park.

Ofsted report

“The school’s work to promote the personal development and welfare of pupils is good. Pupils feel safe at the school and spoke positively about teachers supporting them, for example by being at the busy road crossing near the school at the end of the day.”
