Job overview

Full time – term time only

Ref No: BAPS1593

Due to the promotion of the existing Head Teacher to a post within the Diocese of Salisbury, the governors wish to appoint an outstanding Head Teacher for this successful and oversubscribed school.

The successful candidate would ideally take up the post in September 2015, however, a January 2016 start would be considered for the right candidate.

The new Head Teacher must be an enthusiastic and creative leader with a proven track record and the ability to continue to make improvements in progress and standards, moving the school from good to outstanding.  Crucially the post holder will need to guide our school’s direction of travel through the Academies Agenda, working with governors to ensure that the right decisions are made for our learning community.

The school has gradually been expanding since 2011 and converted to a primary school in September 2013.  It will become a complete three-form entry school in September 2017. We will then have the capacity for 630 children.

We would love to hear from you if you:

  • Have a proven track record of outstanding leadership in the primary phase
  • Are committed to the Christian ethos and values of our school
  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire the highest standard of teaching and learning
  • Can nurture positive relationships with children, parents and carers
  • Would like to work with a strong leadership team focused on the achievement of every child

At Bishop Aldhelm’s CE VA Primary School you will discover:

  • A school that is underpinned by a strong Christian ethos and values
  • A dedicated team of staff and governors who share a desire to improve young peoples’ life chances, with a focus on the ‘whole child’
  • Wonderfully enthusiastic, well behaved and engaging children who demonstrate a love of learning
  • A school community where everyone and every achievement is valued

We welcome applications from experienced head teachers, or experienced senior leaders who are looking for an exciting opportunity in a larger than average primary school in the heart of the local community.

Bishop Aldhelm’s is an inclusive, vibrant, school community where we encourage everyone to share a love of learning and the love of God within an outstanding Christian ethos. We celebrate the potential and achievement of each child, and encourage them to challenge themselves in a safe, supportive environment.

Visits to the school are recommended and can be arranged by contacting the Business Manager, Karen Ebong (from 20th April as school is closed for Easter Holidays until this date).

We are intending to offer visits, which will include a tour of the school led by our current Head Teacher, on the following dates:

  • Wednesday 22nd April at 1.30pm
  • Thursday 23rd April at 9.30am
  • Monday 27th April at 11.00am

Closing date for applications is midnight on Friday 1st May. Shortlisting will take place during the following week.

Candidates selected for interview will be notified by Monday 11th May, with interviews to be held on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd May.

All offers of appointment are conditional on the following:

  • Enhanced DBS check
  • The receipt of at least 2 without reservation references
  • Verification of identity
  • Verification of qualifications
  • For all candidates; that they are legally able to work in the UK.
