The Governing Body seeks to appoint an exceptional and inspirational Headteacher who will take the school to the next level.  

Llanfyllin is a small, thriving town which enjoys an idyllic rural setting and is within easy reach of Shrewsbury, Wrexham and Chester as well as the Snowdonia National Park.

Llanfyllin High School is a popular 11-18 dual-stream bilingual school with close community links and an excellent local and national reputation. Under the National School Categorisation system the school is in quartile 1 for three of the key indicators.  The school’s large sixth form is regarded as a particular strength and attracts students from both Powys and Shropshire who achieve consistently outstanding results and our Year 7 intake for Septmber 2015 is over-subscribed.  The school enjoys excellent ICT facilities, including wireless projectors in every classroom and laptops/tablets for all staff.

The person we are looking for will:

  • Provide the strategic leadership and management which enables the school to give every student high quality education and which promotes the highest possible standards of achievement;
  • Have a proven track record of securing improvement in learning and teaching;
  • Have a commitment to promote and develop Welsh medium provision within the school;
  • Have the capacity to inspire, motivate, recruit and retain outstanding staff.

AIMS OF THE SCHOOL 

The school seeks to recognise the individuality and uniqueness of every child and aims to develop to the full the aptitudes, strengths and particular interests of each pupil.
