About Kew Riverside Primary School

OUR SCHOOL

Kew Riverside Primary is a one form entry PFI community school. We welcomed our first pupils in September 2002.

We enjoy working in a small community and value the opportunity this gives us to get to know all of our families.  The staff works together as part of a team, valuing and respecting each other’s ideas and opinions and is united in its approach to children’s learning, providing an broad and creative curriculum in which all children can thrive. We all firmly believe that a happy child will succeed and we work together to create a dynamic school, exploring every opportunity to maximise learning opportunities.

We maintain an open door policy at all times and our reception area is modern, spacious and open plan – you will never find an ‘office closed’ sign at Kew Riverside. We pride ourselves on the level of care, attention and professionalism shown to all our visitors.

In an atmosphere of mutual respect, staff, parents, children and governors address each other by their first names.

We are committed to fostering a caring supportive community where children learn to take responsibility for their own actions and understand the impact of their actions on others.

We have a code of conduct, which helps us live together in harmony.  At the heart of this code are six Golden Rules:

• Be kind and helpful
• Be gentle
• Look after property
• Listen to people and show respect
• Work hard
• Be honest

PRIVATE FINANCE INITIATIVE – what it means

The London Borough of Richmond entered into a PFI partnership with Jarvis (now 14Forty) to build the school and to maintain it over the next 30 years.  Under the terms of the contract all work and maintenance related to the premises is addressed by 14Forty to agreed response times.  This means that all adults employed by the school can focus solely on their core purpose, teaching and learning.  The Senior Finance Officer manages the contract and there are good channels of communication between the school, 14Forty and the local authority.
