‘Be the Best We Can Be’ is our school motto, encapsulating our vision and ethos. The governors, along with the staff and pupils, wish to appoint a dynamic Headteacher who will drive this ‘Good’ school on to ‘Outstanding’. You will possess the energy, strategic acumen and enthusiasm to inspire the School and the community in order to create a supportive and high achievement environment in which the children can excel.

Our retiring Headteacher has worked tirelessly over the last seven years as the head and 25 years in total teaching in the School. The School is committed to seeing each and every child grow and unlock their potential.

Our values are - respect, have fun learning, explore, be safe, celebrate success, build a better community and world. You will live these values, no doubt develop new ones and lead us to greater success surrounded and supported by a strong and capable teaching and support staff, ambitious Governing Body and a multifarious local community.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding individual who can build on the achievements of the current Headteacher to deliver an outstanding environment in which the children and teachers can thrive. This is a highly sought after role, school and area, and as such we will only be short-listing candidates who demonstrate strong ability and potential.

In return we can offer support from a hard-working, capable and committed team of teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and governors in a wonderful part of the country.

We encourage interested applicants to visit our school. This can be arranged through our school office from the week commencing 16 March. Please contact Jenny Kellaway on 01935-812619.

To be welcoming and accountable.

To provide a positive atmosphere encouraging self confidence and self esteem.

To give children knowledge of their heritage and of their place in the community in order to provide an understanding of and respect for the backgrounds and beliefs of others.

The School

The school was established in 1912 in buildings facing Simons Road to accommodate the northward expansion of the town.It was subsequently enlarged during the Second World War when the infant school in Tinneys Lane was bombed. The school lost its senior children in the late 1950's when secondary education was reorganised. The current purpose built accommodation was completed in July 1998 and was officially opened by HRH the Prince of Wales in April 1999. It comprises eleven classrooms with a nominal capacity of 330 pupils and provides additional space for a hall, music room, newly enlarged special needs department and a library/computer room.

The outdoor space is well utilised with room for a soccer pitch, training areas, netball courts and space for sports. The school uses local facilities for swimming and other sports as required.
