Job overview

Salary: Group 2 ISR 15-21 £53,963 to £62,521 (salary point negotiable according to experience)

The Governors are looking to appoint a Headteacher who will lead us on our continuing journey to good. The school will shortly join a successful multi academy trust including St. Mary’s Horsforth Teaching School.

We invite applications from suitably qualified and experienced senior leaders who are practising Catholics with proven management skills and a clear vision for Catholic Education.

We are seeking a Headteacher who will:

  • inspire, challenge and motivate staff, in order to maintain and develop the best teaching and learning
  • work closely with our governing body in the assessment, monitoring and evaluation of pupils’ progress, attainment and wellbeing
  • work collaboratively with local and Diocesan heads but in particular with headteachers of the Bishop Wheeler Catholic Academy Trust to ensure high standards of attainment and to sustain and develop the school’s Catholic Ethos.

We can offer you a great deal. There are plenty of things in place already. These include:

  • Children with a thirst for knowledge who are eager to learn
  • Parents who are keen to support their children’s learning
  • Staff focused on school improvement who are looking for clear direction, critical friendship and support
  • Governors who are looking forward to working in partnership with you to make the school the best it can be
  • A thriving parish community who are eager to help.
  • The opportunity to develop leadership with other schools within the Trust and the wider community.

It will be hard work but it will be extremely rewarding and you will have the opportunity to live and work in a beautiful place which recently topped the Sunday Times 101 best places to live in the UK.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. Please arrange to do so by emailing the School Business Manager, Sian Esner at sesner@st-stephens.n-yorks.sch.uk.

Completed CES application forms should be emailed to Amanda Whelan, HR Manager for the Trust at a.whelan@stmarysmenston.org  for the attention of Janet Sheehan, Chair of Governors.

Closing date: Friday 11 September 2015, 12.00 noon.
Interview date: Tuesday 29 September 2015.

St. Stephen’s school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of all our children and young people and we expect staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
