Are you seeking a new and exciting leadership opportunity? Can you harness our potential and lead us on our journey to outstanding?

St Katherine’s Primary is recruiting a new headteacher who will build upon the strong foundations of this large, dynamic school and take it from good to outstanding.

We need an experienced and enthusiastic leader who will promote the school’s strategic vision and values and establish a culture of lifelong learning. Crucial to the success of this post is an ability to think creatively with flair and flexibility and to engage and gain the respect of a highly committed staff.

The school, one of the largest primaries in Kent, is a vibrant and busy place with enthusiastic staff and pupils who are keen to learn. They are ably supported by a dedicated governing body and interested parents.

Set in attractive grounds, the school has a newly rebuilt nursery and a refurbished swimming pool that enhances the school provision.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who lives and breathes education, understands the importance of strong leadership and has the qualities and experience to further develop a school that is full of exciting potential.

As our new Headteacher you will:

  • Foster an atmosphere that instils in children a love of learning and commitment to their community;
  • Be an exceptional practitioner able to understand the skills required of an outstanding classroom teacher and disseminate innovative teaching and learning strategies throughout the school;
  • Explore opportunities to play a role in leading and shaping the local education landscape;
  • Develop staff and help them to achieve their full potential, so that they can do the same for our pupils;
  • Embed a culture of continuous improvement, setting the highest expectations for everything we do;
  • Strengthen and build new partnerships with other schools and the wider community; and
  • Be responsible for ensuring that the finances and management of the school remain sound.

Visits to the school are warmly welcome and we encourage you to come and see for yourself what a wonderful school this is.

The aim of St. Katherine's is that pupils leave having achieved the appropriate level of skills, self discipline and positive self image to enable them to progress into the next phase of social and academic education.  This is achieved by promoting a caring and structured environment in which the children are perceived as having a positive contribution to make, through their moral judgement, social skills and personal discipline - all combined in a realistic and positive self image. The school is proud of its good  results, which have been sustained over a number of years.

St. Katherine's School caters for the educational needs of children from the age of three to eleven years.  There is an internal division into Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. We operate an extended day with both a breakfast and after-school club run by school personnel.

Situated toward the west end of Kent near  the Maidstone area, the school has been in the village since the 1930’s and is now firmly established on one site, previously having grown and moved through a split site phase. Our facilities comprise modern purpose-built classrooms, 2 playgrounds, a well-stocked library, surrounding green fields and with the unusual benefit of our own indoor swimming pool. All children will have access to teaching of the highest standards and excellent resources encompassing the latest technological advances.

The school is not affiliated to any religious group; however, close connections are maintained with the churches in the town of Snodland.

St Katherine’s School and Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
