Job overview

‘Crampton is an outstanding school that offers a bespoke education for each individual child’ (OFSTED)

Following the retirement of our current long serving Head teacher we are searching for a new Head teacher for academic year 2024-25 who will lead our highly regarded and popular school and maintain the standards that our children consistently achieve.

Our School

Crampton Primary is a one form entry community school with 208 children on roll, located in Walworth, in the London borough of Southwark. The school is in the Elephant & Castle regeneration area, and in close proximity to the major cultural attractions of Southbank and Bankside. The London Eye is visible from our playground. Thanks to our location, we have easy access to museums and art galleries which enrich the learning experience. Visits to these venues are scheduled regularly, ensuring that all pupils develop a connection to and appreciation of them.

Ethos

Our school ethos is based around the twin pillars of academic achievement and a celebration of inclusivity.  Crampton’s catchment area is ranked in quintile 5, the lowest ranking on the local deprivation scale. The school has a higher-than-average number of pupil premium children. We value inclusion highly, celebrating diversity and differences among our children. We give strong support to children with SEND, for whom we have high aspirations, and who make excellent progress.

The school is highly sought after. We are consistently over-subscribed, financially stable, and have an excellent reputation in the local area. In 2024 Crampton was rated in the top 1% in the Country for national achievement in Reading, Writing and Maths. We ensure that all children, regardless of their starting point, make excellent progress and the school deploys support staff and interventions to give pupils a personalised learning experience.

Curriculum

Crampton takes great pride in the breadth of the curriculum, with opportunities for pupils to participate in a range of performing arts, sports activities and educational visits. The quality of teaching is excellent and pupils at Crampton achieve highly due to the focus on a broad and challenging curriculum which also reflects the diverse community in which we live.

Education for Life

Our children and their families have high aspirations for their choice of secondary school. They are supported by the staff and the Head teacher from Year 4 onwards to think carefully about pupils’ talents and skills to guide them through the Secondary Transfer process.

Our children attend the local Into University centre from Year 4, where they follow a collaborative programme designed to ‘inspire them to achieve’. They ‘graduate’ in Year 6 after a lunch and tour of a Cambridge University college. A high proportion of our children go on to continue their education at University - including those from within the Russell Group.

Amongst our former pupils are doctors, vets, actors and writers. One former pupil has just won a full residential scholarship to Westminster School as a King’s Scholar.

Whatever path our children take our aim is that they will all leave here as confident young people who have a strong work ethic, a love of learning and high expectations for themselves in society.

Safeguarding

We are committed to maintaining a safe environment in which children can learn. The welfare of children is paramount and we take seriously our responsibility to protect and safeguard the children in our care.

Crampton’s Offer

We can offer our new Head teacher:

  • A warm, collaborative environment with passionate staff who are dedicated to bringing out the full potential of each child.
