Job overview

Our popular, happy and expanding school seeks an inspirational Catholic Headteacher.

Our current Headteacher retires in July 2015, and the Governors now seek a highly motivated practising Catholic with relevant experience to further develop this fantastic school and ensure that St Joseph’s continues to be the primary school of choice for the local Catholic community.

St Joseph’s has been expanding to three form entry since 2010 during which time the Governors have enhanced the staffing structure, buildings and facilities. Last year our building programme provided a wonderful new modern building, and artificial sports surface. By Easter 2015 we will have added a new main entrance, school offices and a large hall which will accommodate whole school collective worship. We also have plans to expand our Nursery to complete the project. We believe that the expansion and enhancements will give the school enviable facilities and potential.

At the centre of our community are our wonderful children. We are proud of their insight in describing all that we want in a new Headteacher. This arises out of a learning culture in the school that has attracted praise from HMI and has led to high attainment and good progress. We continue to improve and look forward to welcoming a leader for learning who will enhance our achievements further.

We would welcome applications from those who will be able to demonstrate excellent leadership, management and communication skills, and also possess:

  • A passion and enthusiasm for each individual child’s learning and determination to see that each child maximises their full potential.
  • A clear, consistent focus on Teaching and Learning
  • An unrelenting drive to raise standards
  • A track record of supporting and developing outstanding teaching
  • A vision for leading St Joseph’s to outstanding performance in all respects

As a confident, innovative and organised leader, the successful applicant will show that they are able to maintain good relationships throughout the school community and participate fully in the life of the school.

Visits to the school for prospective candidates are both recommended and warmly welcomed. Even if you have not been considering a move why not come and visit us and find out about this great opportunity to enjoy leading our community?
