Worth Abbey is renowned for its commitment to excellence and its embracing of Benedictine values, is currently seeking a visionary and strategic leader to take on the role of Hospitality Manager.

The pivotal position of Worth Abbey Hospitality Manager offers the opportunity to lead, develop, and enhance the hospitality and commercial offerings at the historic Worth Abbey site, including St Bruno's, Compass House, the Bermondsey Huts, and church events.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in operational management, strategic development, and the promotion of retreat opportunities, all while upholding the Roman Catholic character and Benedictine ethos of the Abbey.

About the role

  • Strategic Development: Collaborate with the Hospitality and Commercial Bursar to devise and execute strategies to maximise the site's commercial potential, ensuring alignment with our core values.
  • Leadership and Management: Oversee a cohesive team including the Head of Catering, Services, Maintenance, and Administrative Support to ensure exceptional service delivery and efficient use of the Abbey's facilities.
  • Hospitality: Deliver unparalleled hospitality to guests, ensuring their stay is memorable and managing any issues proactively. Serve as the Duty Senior Member of Staff for guest relations.
  • Financial Management: Responsible for the financial health of St Bruno's, Compass House, and the Bermondsey Huts. Manage budgets, optimize income, and liaise with the finance team on invoicing and debt management.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection laws and regulations, working closely with the Compliance and Risk Manager.
  • Innovation and Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve operations through technology, new methodologies, and service enhancements.
  • Professional Development: Engage in continuous learning and development activities to stay current and effective in the role.

 About you

  • Demonstrated leadership in hospitality, event management, or a related field.
  • Strategic thinker with a proven track record of delivering results.
  • A deep and broad understanding of and commitment to the Benedictine values and the Roman Catholic ethos.
  • Excellent organisational, financial, and people management skills.
  • Strong communication abilities and a dedication to outstanding customer service.
  • Relevant qualifications and a willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.

Worth is an independent boarding and day school for boys and girls aged 11 to 18, set in the heart of the Sussex countryside between London and Brighton.
