Job overview

Remuneration: £750 per day, plus travel expenses
Time Commitment: Approximately 15 days per annum.

Cognita is a worldwide group of schools, with 40 plus schools across the UK and Spain. We employ some 4,600 teaching and support staff in the care and education of 30,000 pupils. Since our launch in 2004, we have successfully built a family of outstanding schools where no two are the same; each Cognita school retains its own unique ethos and offers a curriculum and range of services tailored to meet the needs of local parents. Wherever you visit a Cognita school, you will find empowered school leaders, committed teachers and pupils who are enthusiastic learners.

We are seeking to recruit an independent UK based Chair to further strengthen our governance arrangements and chair our Regional Safeguarding Committee.

The work of this committee will focus on the responsibilities we have to ensure the highest standards of safeguarding and educational compliance. The Independent Chairs of six School Safeguarding Committees will report directly to this Independent Chair of the Regional Safeguarding Committee. We are looking for an individual with experience and expertise in the areas of safeguarding and chairing senior leaders. Experience relative to this role could be obtained from previous roles either as a head teacher, inspector or evaluator of school safeguarding. The appointed Chair will be expected to allocate an anticipated 15 days per year to the role, plus attendance at related training as required. Although meetings will generally be held in London and Milton Keynes, the successful candidate should be willing to travel to Cognita schools throughout the UK and Spain.

If you would like to apply for the above post, an application form and further information can be downloaded from www.cognitaschools.co.uk

Closing date for applications is 11 May 2015

Launched in 2004, Cognita is an extraordinary community of diverse yet connected schools, spanning sixteen different countries.

At Cognita, we know every student is unique. We nurture their distinct personalities and strengths. We support them academically, socially, and emotionally, wherever they are in the world, wherever they’re starting from.

And each and every one of our schools is unique too. We protect what’s special about them, while offering them rich knowledge, opportunities, and best practices. And they get to be part of something bigger. We open their classrooms to the collective wisdom of over 100 schools in 16 countries, ensuring every child gets an education that’s, quite literally, world class.

It’s an individual approach that empowers every school, teacher and student to focus on what they do best. And thrive.

We want to help you go further. If you work with us, you’ll be joining a community of 18,000 teachers and staff in over 100 schools worldwide. And we have offices in the UK, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia.

Our exchange programmes give you the chance to see other parts of the world. And learn to be strong leaders with regional leadership events and bespoke UCL leadership programmes. There’s something for everyone.

We want teachers who love what they do and bring that passion into the classroom. And we want leaders who can take us forward. That’s why we invest in our people with benefits and opportunities for professional development. We get passionate people and you get vibrant and rewarding careers.
