Job overview

This role is based in the UK and will be working on site in our UK based College. In order to comply with our mandatory pre-employment checks, the successful candidate will be required to provide original identification documents in person to our UK based HR Team.

Background to the Post

As part of the Supported Learning department WCG offers a range of courses that have been developed as an important strand in the College’s offer to Post 16 learners from Entry level to Level 2, with a specific focus on young people that are have special educational needs and disabilities. The client group comes from a variety of backgrounds with various barriers to learning and progression.

The young people may demonstrate challenging behaviours and may have a range of issues, which have prevented them from previous educational engagement. They may have a learning difficulty or have an Education Health and Care Plan, may have been excluded from school, or had considerable and lengthy absences from school. The courses are designed to reengage these young people with a strong emphasis on experiential learning and personal and social development, thus supporting these individuals to succeed and enable them to progress onto a positive mainstream course, into employment or an Internship.

Essential Attainments

  • A qualification at Level 3 in a relevant subject.
  • PTTLS teaching qualification or a willingness to achieve within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Assessor Awards (A1), equivalent, or willingness to work towards and achieve.
  • GCSEs A-C in English and Maths or equivalent.
  • Recent relevant vocational or commercial experience.
  • Experience of working effectively with young people from a variety of backgrounds with challenging behaviours.
  • Experience of working with people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.


Desirable Attainments

  • Experience of planning, organising and completing practical projects.
  • Experience of training/assessing in a variety of settings including work.
