Role overview of a Citizens School: 

IT Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the Information Technology department. This will include ensuring the efficient operation of IT services and support systems in alignment with the educational and administrative objectives of the school. This role involves strategic planning, managing IT staff, overseeing technical projects, and ensuring the security and effectiveness of IT infrastructures. 


Specific role overview:  

IT Manager will pledge his/her commitment to help the School achieve its mission, goals, and vision; value community; bring a spirit of enthusiasm, energy, and willingness to take thoughtful initiative in a collaborative setting. The IT Manager is responsible for the IT Coordinator


Key responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement IT strategies and policies in line with school objectives. 
  • Lead, motivate, and manage the IT team, ensuring high levels of performance. 
  • Coordinate with educational and administrative staff to assess and address IT needs. 
  • Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and servers. 
  • Ensure the reliability and security of IT systems and data. 
  • Manage the school’s internet, intranet, and other digital communication systems. 
  • Assist teachers and staff with the implementation and use of educational technology tools. 
  • Facilitate training sessions for staff and students on new technologies, if necessary. 
  • Liaise with vendors and external partners for IT procurement and services. 
  • Evaluate new technology and make recommendations for improvement. 
  • Keep inventory of all IT assets and manage software licensing. 
  • Provide high-level technical support and guidance. 
  • Ensure timely resolution of IT-related issues and queries. 
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and documentation of IT systems and procedures. 


Department Planning 

In consultation with the Vice Principal for STEAM: 

  • To construct a Development and Improvement Plan, defining short, medium- and long-term goals of the department 
  • To identify professional development areas and needs. 
  • To meet regularly to review the IT provision.  

 

Qualifications and experience: 

  • Strong academic qualifications in a technology-related field. 
  • Microsoft Certified in Azure (Intune) 
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator 
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) 
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Administration 
  • ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) 
  • Knowledgeable in Mobile Device Management (Apple School Manager and Jamf School) or relevant vendor-specific certifications. 
  • Ability to work independently and safeguard confidential information 
  • Proficient in IT for productivity purposes and as a tool to facilitate learning 
  • Minimum of three years of experience in IT management, preferably in an educational setting.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage resources effectively. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of current educational technology trends.
