  • a dedicated leadership team, and excellent professional development opportunities;
  • a talented staff team, who welcome new challenges;
  • a well-resourced school, with fantastic ICT resources.

You will be:

  • an outstanding practitioner, with a track record of improving children’s behaviour, motivation and attitudes towards learning;

  • someone with a ‘can do’ attitude, and high expectations of themselves and others;
  • passionate about improving the life chances of every child.

Gonville is a great place to develop your career. As well as being part of a highly driven team, you will teach enthusiastic students who are eager to learn.

Our multicultural school is in the heart of Croydon, south London. We are a larger than average primary with a nursery and are very much mission and values led.  Our values - Passion, Urgency, Positivity, Aspiration and Commitment – are at the heart of everything we do.

Our culture

We have extremely high expectations for learning and behaviour, hence our Ofsted rating of ‘outstanding’ for behaviour.  Pupils feel safe, valuable and respected with us, and as a Rights Respecting School, we create many opportunities for them to take leading roles throughout the school. This means our pupils become very confident and self-assured individuals.

Why work with us?

We are committed to high quality staff development. Currently we are engaged in research projects and development work with partners including Future Leaders, Teaching Leaders, Teach First, NCETM and Roehampton University.

As part of STEP Academy trust, we also provide regular opportunities for staff to share good practice with other teachers within the Trust. We are committed to developing national and international partner schools, and teachers have had the opportunity to work with schools in Cornwall, Devon, Nigeria, Norway and France.

Location

Gonville Academy has excellent transport links, being close to Thornton Heath bus garage and train station. There is easy access to central Croydon, Streatham and Brixton as well as being a short train journey away from central London.

STEP Academy Trust

We know that it is the exceptional quality of our staff that is key to our success. That’s why we’ll invest in your career and give you an unrivalled benefits package.

We are a growing family of primary academies that strive together for excellence. So we spread best practice, transfer staff to support partner academies, share specialist knowledge and consistently challenge the status quo. Giving you every opportunity to grow and develop in your role.

We want you to do well, that’s why we offer:

  • Great opportunities for accelerated promotion – right across our nine-academy trust
  • Fully funded leadership training courses (NPQML, NPQSL, NPQH)
  • Fully funded Masters and PhD courses
  • At least seven NQT development days each year

And with free lunch everyday, we’ll keep you well fed too.

We are always looking for talented professionals who share our mission. If you share our drive to improve the life chances of all children, we’d love to hear from you.
