We are recruiting for an outstanding Junior Prep Teacher to join as at Sunninghill Prep School.

The successful teacher will share our passion that education should be child-centred – shaped by the development of each individual’s character.

Sunninghill Prep School is a thriving 3-13 co-ed Prep school nestled in the heart of rural Dorset’s county town of Dorchester. A single form entry school with a stable 130 pupils on roll. Facilities are excellent and the magnificent Jurassic Coast is but a short mini-bus drive away. The school’s mission is to provide an outstanding, individualised and holistic education in a stimulating learning environment that prepares all pupils for a happy, healthy and fulfilling life. The aim is to inspire each and every individual to have the confidence and desire to achieve their full potential within a nurturing, supportive community that empowers pupils to be themselves and do their very best.

We are looking for a passionate, creative, energetic and enthusiastic class teacher who can deliver outstanding teaching through our engaging and inspiring curriculum. On top of being an outstanding teacher we will be looking for the right candidate to bring something extra with them. In particular, highly developed skills in the teaching of Games, ICT or Design Technology would be highly desirable.

We welcome applications from experienced teachers as well as those who have recently qualified or are completing their teacher training.

As a teacher at Sunninghill you will:

  • plan, prepare, deliver lessons in our engaging and inspiring curriculum to every pupil.
  • oversee the activities of a class of children in order to ensure their safety, facilitate their educational development and develop a supportive and caring relationship.
  • seek out and promote opportunities for enrichment in the subject, for example trips and visitors.
  • promote high standards, progression, continuity and quality of learning
  • observe children as individuals and in groups and monitor behaviour, progress and possible developmental needs utilising specialist knowledge and experience
