Due to expanding numbers, we are looking to appoint two enthusiastic, innovative and inspirational teachers to join us from September 2015.

We were inspected by Ofsted in March 2015 and found to be a Good school with the Outstanding features of senior leadership, governance, work with parents and transition. Ofsted said:

“Academy leaders, the governors, the parents’ groups, others in the community and the pupils have worked extremely hard over a long period of time to create successfully a strong ethos and sense of community in the academy. Staff and pupils are proud to be part of the academy.”

“The behaviour of pupils is good.”

“Achievement has risen rapidly since the start of this academic year as a result of the strong leadership and improvements in teaching.”

It is an amazing opportunity
This is an exciting and unique opportunity to be part of a committed and dynamic team, focused on provided the very best education within our community, Bridge Learning Campus is a leading edge educational development and leading the the regeneration of a community in an all through 3 – 16 establishment. You would be joining a passionate and talented staff, led by a new Leadership Team, dedicated to making a difference.

Join us …….

… and contribute to changing the opportunities of a generation of young people!

The Bridge Learning Campus welcomes applications from those who are totally committed to learning – theirs as well as the young people they will be teaching.

Our strap line is TRUST IN LEARNING – TRUST IN SUCCESS and if you feel that you can endorse such a way of thinking then your interest will be received positively.

The campus is a very unique place to work with few comparable schools in the country. We are an all through 3-16 academy with an additional all through special school on site and we work towards providing an inclusive learning experience for all. Our facilities are second to none and we all work within a purpose built £40 million facility that has been established to radically change the education opportunities of this community. The area we serve has been let down by the education system for generations and our vision is to change this for current and future young people.

AND YES we are changing things, but we have only just started and quite clearly our vision is to offer outstanding education for all who come to the Bridge Learning Campus. In just over 4 years we have seen attainment improvements being sustained from key Stage 1 and 2 to Key Stage 4. We have seen the quality of classroom experiences rise for 45% good or better experiences for our young people to 70% and we don’t have any ceiling on this key target as our expectation is that if we all commit to learning things will improve.

To do this we need likeminded colleagues to join us and a teaching staff that is second to none. There will of course be many places to teach which are less challenging than the campus, but few where excellence in the classroom is so important and where the rewards for making a difference are so clear!

Our commitment to you …….

  • You will be working within a forward thinking education setting which questions the norm as the best way of doing things.
  • You will receive support, challenge and on-going professional development in order for all of us to continually improve through reflection and then effective action.
  • You will be seen as an individual but one who works within a team
  • You will be supported in your career path and if you have ambition we will support and encourage the ambition to deliver greater things in the profession
  • You will be joining a multi academy chain whose sponsors are the University of the West of England and the City of Bristol Collage and a chain that includes another secondary school and an outstanding infant school
  • You will have the opportunity to be part of something very special.

And in return we would like colleagues to join us who …………………..

  • Are ambitious for our children and for themselves
  • Are committed to their own learning and improvement
  • Are eager to contribute to the wider campus wherever they can
  • Have a passion for teaching
  • Can help transform the life chances for young people via their practice
  • Can commit to the values underpinning our starfish story on the reverse of this brochure!

Location, Location, Location ….

If you are considering applying for a post with us and you don’t live near the City of Bristol then this can often present difficulties and concerns.

It is always worthwhile doing your own research into the area, but to help you in making a decision quite simply Bristol as a City is a great place to live and work. It is a very vibrant place to be and offers the whole range of potential areas or suburbs to live. The City itself has won numerous awards for the quality of its cultural activities, its museums and its retail shopping opportunities! There has been a great deal of investment into many different areas of the City and there is a very real ‘City spirit’ – people are very proud to be part of Bristol.

Likewise if you like to live near, but not in the city then it is easy to live in some beautiful countryside and yet commute to work relatively easily. Just within 15 minute drive of the campus itself you have the Mendip Hills and the Chew Valley.

As the old man walked the beach at dawn, he noticed a young man ahead of him picking up starfish and flinging them into the sea.

Finally catching up with the youth, he asked him why he was doing this.

The answer was that the stranded starfish would die if left until the morning sun.

‘But the beach goes on for miles and there are millions of starfish’ countered the others.

‘How can your efforts make any difference?’

The young man looked at the starfish in his hand and then he threw it to the safety in the waves.

‘It makes a difference to this one’ he said.

Mission: BLC will have a local and national reputation for providing excellent education and lifelong learning for all; by 2018 BLC will be outstanding

Bridge Learning Campus is not like any other school. We are a genuinely all-through and fully inclusive school, one that educates children aged three to sixteen. We serve an area of socio-economic deprivation in south Bristol, in a constituency with the lowest HE take-up in Europe. Our students are amazing – they thrive on positive relationships and high standards – and we are a rapidly improving school. We do far more at BLC for the children than “just lessons” and we seek to widen their experiences and horizons in any way we can.

Our staff are incredibly important to us and we try our very hardest to look after all that work here. Education is not without its challenges anywhere – and our school and be tough on some days – but it is rewarding and you will make a massive difference to the lives and futures of hundreds of children.

Please, come and have a look around. Read a few of our staff testimonials, read some of the articles the staff here have written for TES and other publications. We’d love to have you on board.
