About Smiling International School - Campus Porta Mare

“ If the school is an existential meeting place between people and generations and is therefore an “ecosystem”, each and every person who operates in the school and affects the everyday life of the school must be active in the school welcome as this represents the cultural, relational and institutional “climate”. Therefore, a long-term strategy....” (B.Forte e al., Per cominciare bene, l’accoglienza, in “Thema”, n.1, ottobre 1997, Bruno Mondadori).

We believe that the school welcome is not limited to the first few days of the Early Years section or the transition period from Early Years to Primary or Primary to Secondary: the school welcome starts the first time a pupil enters the school with their parents and continues throughout the years until they settle into their subsequent school.

The atmosphere and environment a pupil lives in is of utmost importance. The teachers’ good manners, enthusiasm, happiness, understanding, confidence and self-assurance, along with a welcoming, happy environment, full of stimuli and positive reference points, all contribute to making the pupils feel at home in their school environment.

The School Principal, all the teachers and the non-teaching staff must be seen as positive and encouraging reference points and must be approachable figures whenever the children need help or advice.

The school environment is like a second home where the pupils spend a large part of their day; therefore attention to detail is very important: the colours, furnishings and equipment must be attractive and appealing.
