Job overview

Required for September 2015, a dynamic, well-qualified and committed Lead Practitioner to join our Mathematics department.

The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College is a school where students achieve well and are part of a strong, caring community. In 2014 61% of students achieved 5+A*-C GCSEs, including English and mathematics, and progress in both English and mathematics was above the national average.

The Mathematics Department, which consistently achieves excellent results, consists of eleven teachers (including a Lead Practitioner). In 2014 74% of students achieved A*-C at GCSE and its performance was rated as ‘Sig+’ in the recently published Rasieonline. At A Level 100% of students achieved A*-E.

Our school’s progress was recognised by Ofsted In November 2014 when they stated, “The Headteacher is driving improvement and fostering a culture of high expectations and aspirations”. Our students are our greatest ambassadors and it was found that they “…take responsibility as prefects, school councillors and house-captains. They wear their uniforms and their badges for achievement, regular attendance and commitment, with pride.”

We are keen to appoint dedicated staff who are eager to support our students to achieve in all aspects of their school life and who want to be key contributors to our school’s success.
We encourage visits from prospective candidates to meet members of our school community and to experience our school at first hand. If you would like to do this please contact Ann Pullin, PA to the Headteacher on 01268 474485 or via email on pullina@bromfords.essex.sch.uk.

A recruitment package, including financial assistance and benefits, is available.

The Bromfords School and Sixth Form College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be offered a position subject to full pre-employment checks including an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Values and vision

The Bromfords School  key aim is to be a school where its pupils are happy; where they feel safe and able to express themselves; and where they can access a challenging and appropriate curriculum. Promoting positive role models and fostering individual and collective pride are viewed as important, playing a role in creating pupils who are confident learners, able and ready to conquer barriers to success.

Academic progress is regularly monitored, although success in this area is not the be all and end all to education at the school. A wide range of extra-curricular and sporting activities are on offer, reflecting a holistic approach to developing pupils’ abilities.

The school’s sixth form, which benefits from small classes, prides itself on offering students a bespoke curriculum. Its aim is to encourage its students not only to develop a lifelong love of learning but to become caring and active citizens in the local community.

Ofsted

“The governors and headteacher have a vision for the school which middle leaders and staff share. There is a clear culture of hard work and good behaviour throughout the school. Governors and leaders have a firm understanding of the school’s strengths and areas for further development.”
